'Eclipse' Gets Widest Domestic Release In Hollywood History

Opening in 4,416 theaters, the latest 'Twilight' film breaks record held by 'Iron Man 2.' Fans of "The Twilight Saga" are used to watching dreamy vampire Edward Cullen face down routinely shirtless werewolf Jacob Black over the heart of the beautiful Bella Swan — but it seems that Edward and Jacob have put aside their differences to team up against a new, unexpected opponent: Tony Stark.

Deadline Hollywood reports that "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" has already earned its first record without even officially landing in theaters. According to the report, "Eclipse" is currently slated to open in 4,416 theaters across North America, making it the single widest domestic release in Hollywood history. That same record was most recently held by Marvel Studios and Paramount's "Iron Man 2," which initially unspooled in 4,380 locations. Before that, "The Dark Knight" held the record in 2008 with 4,366 theaters.

There is currently no official count of how many locations plan to launch "Eclipse" with midnight showings on Wednesday (June 30).

Having already sunk its fangs into one record, the David Slade-directed "Eclipse" is well poised to cement its status in Hollywood history as it launches into theaters this week. In November, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" enjoyed a massive $140 million opening weekend, more than doubling the initial numbers for the first "Twilight" film. With the summer season in full session, there's no telling how much damage "Eclipse" could do at the box office.

Robert Pattinson: Bored with Twilight Fame

He’s become one of the most famous actors in the entire world thanks to his part in the “Twilight” film frenzy, but Robert Pattinson says he’s getting tired of the whole shtick.

The “Remember Me” actor told press he’s looking forward to being done with his role as Edward Cullen when “Breaking Dawn” is done filming.

“It can get a little boring. The good news is that the whole thing is done in seven months. I’ve learned to let it go a bit, but I’m still really bothered by it. The more you are exposed, the more people irrationally hate you.”

“I think we reached a point, a peak, with New Moon where the stories became so saturated into the culture that it started to feel normal. It’s like the tabloids don’t know what to write anymore because they’ve used up all their scandals.”

They’ve been going non-stop on the promotional trail, and earlier today (June 21) Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were spotted at a photo call for “Eclipse” in Stockholm, Sweden.

The “New Moon” costars were in good spirits as they posed for the paparazzi and waved to fans during the press event.

In a recent interview, Kristen gave a teaser regarding her wedding dress in the forthcoming “Breaking Dawn” films.

She explained, "Stephanie [Meyer] is absolutely in charge of that. I'm sure she has really specific ideas. I haven't really thought about it but I feel like she would definitely want something classic, simple but beautiful."

"She [Bella] doesn't want to get married and because it means so much to Edward, and since she's gonna go ahead and go through with it, she's gonna give him everything, like a beautiful monumental wedding because he wants it so badly. Which exactly the opposite. Usually the girl wants it. I think that's cute."

Enjoying a little free time from her European promotional trek, Kristen Stewart was spotted out in Berlin, Germany on Saturday (June 19).

Sporting a white hoodie with jeans, the Bella Swan babe was joined by security personnel as she visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.

In related news, Miss Stewart recently voiced her interest in taking over Angelina Jolie's role in the upcoming "Wanted 2" movie.

She tells MTV News of the possibility, "Yes. Definitely, as long as it was really good. Wanted was a great movie … James McAvoy makes that movie different than most other action movies because he’s a real guy, and I feel most action movies don’t have that. But I wouldn’t just want to be in a mindless, blow-up movie. I’m not into it.”

Twilight-loving pet insurance customers may be surprised to hear that leading lady Kristen Stewart's main occupation isn't Hollywood parties or red carpets - it's staying home with her cat.

The actress told Extra that her favourite thing to do was to chill out at home with her moggy.

Calling herself "totally boring", the woman who made Bella Swann famous said: "I sit in my house with my cat. I'm a crazy cat lady, just give me a couple of years... I have one cat, but I'm obsessed with him."

Rumoured to be an off-screen couple with on-screen lover Robert Pattinson, Stewart admitted that they and Taylor Lautner, the third member in the film's love triangle, did not spend much time together off set.

Robert, Kristen and Taylor: Twilight Convention Trifecta

Taking the stage to answer questions for their biggest fan's and members of the media, the stars of "Twilight" took to the "Eclipse" Convention in Los Angeles, California over the weekend.

With Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner all on-hand, the trio laughed amongst one another while reminiscing about past moments and looking ahead to the future in front of the crowd at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza venue.

Since that time, Pattinson also took a moment to chat with the Today show on Monday (June 14), saying to interviewer Jenna Bush, "I would like to go on a date. I'm just saying. I'm just putting that out there. Because I never go on dates anymore."

And while romance may be on his mind, Robert isn't keen on the idea of "settling down," as he tells, "I don't think settling down should be the same thing as getting married. I mean, I guess settling down just means not sleeping with everybody. I don't like the idea of having to settle, though."

During the course of his sitdown, Rob also made it known that he's looking to best Taylor when it comes to his coif and his abs.

He tells, "I want to have better hair than him. I want to have a better six-pack. No, he's great. I've been close with him throughout the whole series."

Kristen Stewart Under Attack By Creepy Stalker

Kristen Stewart may feel that the paparazzi are like "rapists," but she doesn't seem too bothered by the fact that she is getting stalked by a creep.

The Chicago Sun Times (via Celebslam) reports that Kristen is being stalked by a nut job who sends her disturbing letters and shows up at events she attends. However, the real problem appears to be that Kristen isn't talking her stalker too seriously:

She insists that no crazy 'will keep me from living my own life [...] But this isn't like the paparazzi -- who Kristen understandably hates because they are so intrusive. These people can be dangerous.

Indeed stalkers and overly obsessed fans can be very dangerous and Kristen's friends and family are reportedly worried sick that she isn't being more careful around her stalker.

On the one hand, you can understand how Kristen would want to live her life and show her stalker that she isn't intimidated by their nutty antics. Then again, stalkers sometimes cause damage to the famous person they are stalking.

Hopefully Kristen, who is notoriously private, will play it safe.
